The
Vidich-Stein residence consists of 5,000 square feet of radiant
heat embedded in slabs and gypsum underlayment. |
The tubing for the areas with gypsum underlayment was installed
on top of the sub floors in the framed areas of the house.
| |
The gypsum underlayment was poured to embed the tubes providing
a very responsive and evenly heated floor.
| |
The kitchen floor is a “floating” oak floor. The flooring
is glued board-to-board and rests on a thin pad over the slab. The
flooring is allowed to expand and contract freely, adapting to the
changes in moisture content.
| |
The radiant heating in the living room floor is installed under
bluestone tile.
| |
The control panel feeds six zones of radiant heat and also provide
domestic hot water. Each radiant zone includes weather-responsive
controls and indoor temperature feedback.
